Message from Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge CEO Nicole Cook

At Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge, we are guided by a deep responsibility to our children, families, and community. Everything we do is rooted in our commitment to support the well-being, safety, and strength of Cowessess First Nation families—today and for generations to come.

Our work is grounded in culture, connection, and community. We believe that strong families are the foundation of strong Nations. Through prevention, support services, and community-driven programming, we walk alongside children, youth, and caregivers to uplift, empower, and create meaningful opportunities for growth and healing.

We honour the teachings, traditions, and values of our people in all that we do. Whether through cultural programming, family supports, or youth development initiatives, our goal is to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging, identity, and pride in who they are.

As we look ahead, Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge remains committed to strengthening our services, expanding opportunities, and continuing to listen to the voices of our community. We will continue to build partnerships, invest in innovation, and ensure our work reflects the needs and aspirations of the families we serve.

Together, we are creating pathways for our children to thrive; grounded in culture, supported by community, and guided by hope.
On behalf of Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge, I thank you for your trust and continued support.

Message from Former Chief Cadmus Delorme

Citizens of Cowessess First Nation honour traditional protocols—ceremonies, songs, and gatherings—passed down since time immemorial. From birth, each person receives a “soul flame” from the Creator to guide the body, mind, and spirit. These customs and laws form the foundation of Cowessess culture, providing guidance for ceremonies and community life.

The Miyo Pimatisowin Act restores Cowessess’ authority to uphold its language, culture, and values through teachings of the medicine wheel—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The Coordination Agreement strengthens the partnership between Cowessess First Nation, Canada, and Saskatchewan, uniting them like strands of sweetgrass to support children and families under Cowessess’ care.
